The three pillars of work-life alignment: a smarter framework for modern living

The three pillars of work-life alignment: a smarter framework for modern living

What would it look like if your work and your life actually worked together?

This week feels like the ideal time to explore exactly that. It's Mental Health Awareness Week, and this year the Mental Health Foundation has set the theme as "Action" — something that really resonates with us. Because when it comes to how we live and work, good intentions only get us so far. What actually moves the needle is doing things differently.

And that's precisely what we're here to talk about. We're diving into the three pillars of work-life alignment, and why we think it might be time to retire the narrative of "balance". Because the way we think about the relationship between work and life shapes everything; how we feel, how we show up, and how we move through our days.

So before we get into the pillars themselves, let's start with a key question…

We are delighted to announce that we have been commissioned by Broxbourne Council in Hertfordshire UK to launch a burnout-prevention training programme for Broxbourne-based businesses.

As part of the Broxbourne Strategic Partnership for Skills (BSPS) programme, which helps to bridge skills gaps and challenges in the local economy, this fully funded project offers a unique opportunity for six cohorts of senior leaders, managers and staff to access Calmer’s CPD accredited training courses in practical mental health training in the workplace.

Why saying "No" is crucial for your mental health

Why saying "No" is crucial for your mental health

In today's fast-paced world, we often find ourselves juggling numerous responsibilities, from work and family obligations to maintaining social connections and pursuing personal interests. This constant pressure to meet various demands can weigh heavily on our mental health, leading to feelings of stress, anxiety, and burnout. Amidst this chaos, saying "no" emerges as a powerful self-care practice, enabling us to regain control over our lives and prioritise our well-being.

By exploring how saying "no" can positively impact our mental health, this can empower you to make conscious choices, safeguarding your emotional and psychological wellbeing.

This week, Stacy J. Bryant returns with her second guest article for Calmer, to delve into the critical importance of setting boundaries and asserting the right to say "no." Join us as we uncover the transformative potential of this small yet significant word.

Why organisations that prioritise mental health at work are winning

Why organisations that prioritise mental health at work are winning

What does it mean to you to meaningfully invest in mental health at work?

There are so many ways to look at this, and organisations are increasingly recognising their responsibility to address mental health in the workplace.

For us, it means going beyond offering the occasional wellness webinar or posting about mental health awareness on social media. It involves embedding mental health awareness, education and support into an organisation's culture, team dynamics, and leadership structure - as one of our long-term valued clients Rickard Luckin puts it, embedding wellbeing “into the DNA of our firm”.

Last month, our team launched our brand new online course for senior leaders and managers: Managers introduction to mental health at work. We are so excited to add this product to our roster of services and support as many people as possible through this accessible training. All drawn from our years of live training experience, coming across the most pressing issues and questions raised in our sessions about managing mental health at work, we are beyond proud to create this set of bite-sized training modules.

To mark this product launch, we interviewed our founder and director, Tania Diggory, to dive into how mental health education has evolved over the years, debunk mental health myths, and explore why workplace mental health training is more pertinent now than ever before.

Building inclusive workplaces: the power of DEIB and mental wellbeing

Building inclusive workplaces: the power of DEIB and mental wellbeing

In today’s evolving workplace, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) is more than a corporate buzzword - it’s a critical foundation for success. A truly inclusive workplace goes beyond diversity numbers; it cultivates a sense of belonging, where every employee feels seen, heard, and valued.

This week, we are excited to welcome back Pinky Ghadiali for her second article for Calmer, to explore why it is so important for workplaces to prioritise DEIB, how this links to improved mental wellbeing, and strategies for creating inclusive workplaces.
